At six thirty seven Randall was already at the gate and ringing my phone. Why is he always before time? I need six more Baptist minutes to add the finishing touches. Either I am still a little swollen or I need some more sleep. My face is puffy.

“Hey there,” I answered.

“Are you ready?”

“Not quite,” I answered honestly.

“Well, you’ll just have to go as is,” he said bluntly.

She buzzed the gate open for him. He pulled around but apparently, realized what she said and gave her a few minutes before he rang the bell. It was actually six fifty one. Impressive, she thought and smiled. His timing could not have been better. She was complete. Lips extra glossed. She liked the way she looked and no longer thought she saw the puffiness she previously saw. She was dressed very comfortable and casual. Hopefully, it was appropriate and she was not going to meet his mama; they definitely had not discussed that. Although she hated flats, the ones she wore seemed to work well this evening. I must still be high if I like these shoes on my feet. We will see how they do after a few hours.

She shut down the alarm and could see him through the door and the redness from the car. She opened the door and completely overlooked him as if he was not even there. She dropped her bag, jumped off the few short steps and walked directly to the car. She placed her hands on her hips and walked around it several times. This is unreal.

“What’s wrong?” he asked.

Putting her index finger up to her lips, “Shh,” she said. He was clueless. She ran her hand across the car and felt as if she really wanted to pinch herself to make sure she wasn’t dreaming or in heaven. Reality hit her for the first time; she was hanging out with Randall Hooks Washington! This was serious! This was a different league than what she was used to. He was major. The game had been upped, she couldn’t deny that. He tried to walk over but she held her hand out as if to say stay back. He didn’t really know what was going on and went to sit on the steps to wait. She then kneeled down and stood back up, but he could not see her on that side of the car. He stood up off the steps then came around behind her and spoke.

“Is everything okay?” he asked in a quiet voice.

“NO!” she yelled.

Totally confused at this point and looking every bit like it, “Why? What?” he stammered with his words.

“I have had enough of this,” she yelled again.

He was startled. “Enough of what?” he asked desperately not knowing what to do.

“YOU!” she said firmly.

She had really caught him by total surprise and he stepped a few feet back to give her some room. However, the more he stepped back, the closer she walked up to him. She was extremely short compared to him today; it was the flats.
